Workers’ Guide
The ability to strike is an internationally recognised right, but in Australia, there are a number of regulations around it.
There are, however, a number of ways you can attend the strike within the bounds of your workplace agreement, including:
  • Taking a longer lunch break
  • Organising a workplace action
  • Taking formal leave or using your time off in lieu (TOIL)
  • Getting your workplace to pass a resolution (permission for you and your colleagues to participate in the strike without penalty)
For more information about these ideas, click here.

Many Australian workplaces are getting behind the strikes, and encouraging their employees to take part in the march.
In fact, over 1000 businesses have pledged to support their workers through the group Not Business As Usual. Why not get your workplace to sign up too?

Australian school strikers are part of a global movement which is collaborating on the Global #ClimateStrike on September 20. Around the world, strikes and actions will be taking place across the week of September 20-27.
